Solstorm was founded by engineers from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology projects Orbit and Propulse to revolutionize how we transport cargo in space. The company’s vision is a clean and safe orbital environment where research, human spaceflight, and space-based industry thrive.
Solstorm enables this through its propulsion system which converts energy from the solar wind to propel satellites, rockets, and other space transport. The propulsion system deploys and generates a magnetic field by harnessing power from the ionosphere. The field induces electromagnetic drag that de-orbit and dispose of dead satellites after mission completion.
